Fresh Wasabi Root - 1/4, 1/2, or 1 Pound options
Authentic fresh wasabi root (rhizome) is a treat. Most 'wasabi' that is available in stores and restaurants is actually horseradish with green food coloring added. Authentic wasabi has a cleaner, more vegetal flavor along with heat, and is perfect not just alongside sushi, but as a flavoring agent for everything from steak and oysters to salad dressings and cold noodle salads.
A fresh root will last for about 3 weeks to 2 months in the fridge if kept cool, damp, and ungrated.
